 Michael Vick Opens Dog Shelter
In what some are calling an effort to shore up his tattered image before his federal trial on dog fighting charges, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback has announced plans to open a dog shelter. In his first public statement since the indictment, Vick stated, “While I have never been involved in the dog fighting industry, I do happen to have a whole lot of dog cages and roughly 800 lbs of high protein dog food and would like to put them to use helping the unwanted, mostly large and muscular dogs in the Virginia area where I own a couple of houses but never visit.”
“What will be different and better about my shelter,” said Vick, “is that unlike other dog shelters where the dogs are secluded, my dogs will be allowed to interact with one another. We will take them out on ‘play dates’ two at a time, and let them play with each other in a small pit in the back yard.
